Soul crushing in the best way and leaves you wanting just that little bit, Hell’s Bottom, Colorado by Laura Pritchett is a slow paced gritty/raw/honest collection of interconnected short stories that is perfect for readers who like a little bit of reality to their fiction and who can appreciate the harsh cards life can deal. -Ashley
Isola by Allegra Goodman was a favorite of mine this year. Isola is based on a true story of a young noble woman’s survival in the 1540s after being abandoned on an uninhabited island in New France(Canada). This historical fiction feels a bit like a blend of Vaster Wilds (Lauren Groff) and A Marriage Portrait (Maggie O’Farrell). It is vividly written and a page turner. -Sarah
I loved Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy. I love the way the author tells a story. This one grabbed me from the first page. I loved the adult female character, she was fierce and I like how she evolved. -Jen
I really liked Old School Indian. I appreciated the main character’s journey of healing by rediscovering his connections to family, community and his indigenous spirituality. -Carolyn
