During the month of November Lyons Regional Library supports every kind of writer with its Writing In November programs. We also support National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in November for our novel writers. We are an official NaNoWriMo “Come Write In” site.

Have a writing project underway or an inspiration that needs nudging? Join other local writers at the Lyons Regional Library on the first Wednesday of each month to discuss projects, share tips, and offer a listening ear. Facilitated by Dr. Kayann Short, award-winning teacher and author of A Bushel’s Worth: An Ecobiography, this informal and free monthly gathering is for anyone with an interest in writing of any flavor.

Author David Baron comes to the Library for Writing in November (WIN!)

Popular non-fiction writer David Baron will discuss writing and more at our Library. Baron is the author of “Beast in the Garden” and most recently “American Eclipse.” Baron is a journalist, author, and broadcaster who has spent his thirty-year career largely in public radio. He has worked as an environment correspondent for NPR, a science reporter for Boston’s WBUR, and health and science editor for PRI’s The World. His written work has appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Daily Beast, Boston Globe, Outside, Lonely Planet, Mental Floss, and Reader’s Digest.

Baron is an avid umbraphile who has witnessed six total solar eclipses, David has crossed the Americas, Europe, Asia, and Australia to catch the shadow of the moon.
