Rental Madness!

Date:  Wednesday, September 26th, 2018.

Time:  6:30 pm

Location:  Lyons Regional Library, 405 Main Street, Lyons

Open to:  All ages

Registration:  None required.

Have questions about renting in Lyons?  Short-term rentals, long-term rentals, ADUs, renting, being a landlord, leasing, having roommates, anything is fair game.  Community discussion will be moderated by Susan Spaulding, a rental expert for the City of Longmont with input from Town of Lyons employees. Resource handout provided.

Ongoing Programs

We have events for all ages. Please stop in for more information. Most programs are family programs but we do have some age specific programs. Adult programs are for those ages 18 and up, Teen programs are for those entering 6th grade through those entering 12th grade. Kids are those entering kindergarten through those entering 5th grade. Babies are ages four and under.

Word Wednesdays with author Kayann Short PhD

Next Date: Wednesday,October 3rd, 2018 (The first Wednesday of every month).

Time: Starting at 6:30pm and ending at 8pm

Location: Lyons Regional Library, 405 Main Street, Lyons

Open to: All ages and levels of writing experience

Have a writing project underway or an inspiration that needs nudging? Join other local writers at the Lyons Regional Library on the first Wednesday of each month to discuss projects, share tips, and offer a listening ear. Facilitated by Dr. Kayann Short, award-winning teacher and author of A Bushel’s Worth: An Ecobiography, this informal and free monthly gathering is for anyone with an interest in writing of any flavor.

Fun Chess with Aaron Caplan

Date(s): Every Monday that the St. Vrain Valley School District is in session. If the St. Vrain Valley School District is not in session, we do not have chess (this is true for holidays, snow days, etc.)

Time: Starting at 2:45pm and ending at 3:30pm

Location: Lyons Regional Library, 405 Main Street, Lyons

Open to: Ages 6 to 14

Registration: Not Required

Come drop on in for a fun and interactive atmosphere with volunteer Aaron Caplan and play some chess! All levels of experience are welcomed; we provide the chess sets, but you are free to bring your own as well.

Art-4-Art Trading Cards

Time: Starting at 12:30pm

Come join the Lyons Regional Library and Art-4-Art on the third Saturday of every month for some friendly trading of Art Trading Cards (ATC), swapping in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Never been? Don’t know what it is? Come to the Library and find out for yourself! All ages welcome.

 

Senior Book Club at Walt Self Center
This program is run by the Town of Lyons

Next Date: Thursday, September 20th, 2018 (The third Thursday of every month)

Time: Starting at Noon

Location: Walt Self Senior Center, 355 Railroad Avenue, Lyons

Open to: Seniors

Registration: Not Required

On the third Thursday of every month, the Senior book club meets at the Walt Self Senior Center, 355 Railroad Avenue in Lyons. Anyone who has read or wishes to discuss the current book is welcome! This event is ongoing and is sponsored by the Town of Lyons Parks & Recreation Department. The Library can help find books for the book club in a variety of formats, just let us know by stopping in.  This program is free and open to the public.

Tech Assistance

If you have a smartphone, tablet, computer, or other tech device you need help with, or questions about Facebook, E-mail, or finding something on the internet, the Lyons Regional Library is here to help you. Assistance is available any time of the week by appointment. If you have a group and would like to have group instruction we do that too! All ages are welcome and instruction is without charge. When you make your appointment please let us know what your tech issues are so we can be prepared

Erica and Sarah walked 104 miles across England on Wainwright’s Coast to Coast trail to raise money for the Lyons Library building project! Join us in thanking them for their generosity and to hear about their journey and well-earned blisters!

Social Media for Artists with the Boulder County Arts Alliance

Date: Wednesday, August 15th, 2018

Time: Networking starts at 5:30pm; program starts at 6:30pm

Love it or hate it, social media is here to stay as a marketing tool.  This workshop will teach you how to be strategic with social media.  You’ll leave with answers to questions such as in which social media outlets you should invest your time, what content you should be posting, how to be efficient and effective with your efforts, and more.  Presented by Cindy Sewell Hohman of the Art Marketing Project.  ALL TYPES OF ARTISTS WELCOME!  Please spread the word to those who might be in town for Song School and Folks Fest, too!
