2018 Summer Library Events!

The Lyons Regional Library Summer Library Program is for everyone! We have events for all ages. Please stop in for more information. Most programs are family programs but we do have some age specific programs. Adult programs are for those age 18 and up, Teen programs are for those entering 6th grade through those entering 12th grade. Kids are those entering kindergarten through those entering 5th grade. Babies are ages four and under. Program runs from June 2nd to August 4th. Pick up reading logs (ages 0-17 years) to earn prizes over the summer!

Annual Summer Library Program

The Lyons Regional Library invites you to participate in our annual Summer Library program! Just come on into the library and pick up your reading logs and reading bingo sheets to earn prizes throughout the summer! Logs and Bingo sheets can also be downloaded below:

Stuffed Animal Sleepover

Date(s): Drop off: 10:30 am till 5pm Tuesday, June 26th Storytime: Wednesday, June 27th

Open to: All ages

Registration: Not required

Drop your stuffed animal off at the Library during the day on Tuesday, June 26th for a sleepover at the library. Pick your stuffed animal up on Wednesday, June 27th at 10:30am at a very special stuffed animal sleepover storytime!

A Walk Under the Strawberry Moon

Date: Wednesday, June 27th, 2018

Time: Starting at 8pm

Location: Starting at the Lyons Regional Library, 405 Main Street, Lyons

Open to: Ages 5 and up, family friendly.

Registration: Required (Maximum Participants: 35) 

Night-time is glorious under the full moon! See how moon phases work through an interactive presentation, and then take a walk to Sandstone Park. Discover fun moon facts, hear stories about the moon, and find out how our natural satellite affects the lives of humans and wildlife. Space is limited, so be sure to register at Boulder County’s website.

Making Musical Instruments at the Library

Learn to Solve the Rubik’s Cube!

Date: Saturday, July 14th, 2018

Have you ever wondered how cuber’s are able to solve Rubix cubes with ease? Come to the Library and learn their secrets! One lucky participant will even win a Rubix cube!

Adult Summer Library Program with Prizes

For every three items you read or watch–anything counts!–stop by the library to fill out an entry.  No limit on the number of entries! Prize drawing will be held the week of August 12th. Prizes are around-town-gift cards. You don’t need a library card to participate.

Join us for a month long writing celebration of events at the library that we call WIN! (Writing in November).

Taste of Lyons with a Splash of Blues, Featuring Hazel Miller

The Lyons Library Foundation invites us all to dance the night away while sampling delicious food and drink at the “Taste of Lyons with a Splash of Blues: Featuring Hazel Miller” on July 12, at the Planet Bluegrass Wildflower Pavilion. Delicious food samples will be provided by Mojo Taqueria, Spice of Life Catering, Greenspoint Catering, La Mariposa, Oskar Blues, The Greenbriar Inn, and others. Drinks will include donations from Spirit Hound Distillers. Thanks to our event sponsors, Planet Bluegrass and Dick Ralston.

Social Media for Artists with the Boulder County Arts Alliance

Date: Wednesday, August 15th, 2018

Love it or hate it, social media is here to stay as a marketing tool.  This workshop will teach you how to be strategic with social media.  You’ll leave with answers to questions such as in which social media outlets you should invest your time, what content you should be posting, how to be efficient and effective with your efforts, and more.  Presented by Cindy Sewell Hohman of the Art Marketing Project.  ALL TYPES OF ARTISTS WELCOME!  Please spread the word to those who might be in town for Song School and Folks Fest, too!

Create the Future and Honor the Past with History Colorado! The History Colorado State Historical Fund wants to help you earn grants for historic preservation and archaeology projects that matter to you and your community. Attend a free grant workshop at the Festivarie Inn to learn about the State Historical Fund program and application process. Refreshments will be provided. After the workshop join us for a historic walking tour of Lyons.

Musical Petting Zoo and Summer Kick-Off

Date: Saturday, June 2nd, 2018

Time: Starting at 10:00am till Noon.

Open to: All ages

Strum, beat, and play your way through the Swallow Hill Music Instrument Petting Zoo! Hands-on experience for kids and adults led by Swallow Hill’s staff of “zookeepers”. The entire family can try ukuleles, hand drums, guitars, mandolins, banjos, fiddles, mini pianos, and more. We provide the instruments, you provide the curiosity!

A Slow Go of the CAMINO de SANTIAGO

Date: Wednesday, June 13th, 2018

LEGO Off Road Jeep Workshop

Date(s):Wednesday, June 20th, 2018

Time: 2pm till 4pm

Open to: 5-12

Children will get to build their own motorized LEGO Off Road Jeeps, and will learn all about belts and pulleys while trying to drive their Jeeps over  obstacles!! Please note participants will not get to keep the Lego materials.
